This is one thing I have an obsession with. In the past couple years I have made a lot of changes as to "healthifying" your home. One thing we do not use anymore is fragrance. My husband and I are both very sensitive to smells to begin with so I don't use any candles or air fresheners. Plus I know they are very toxic. I do use a beeswax candle every now and then, but I mostly love just opening a window for fresh air!
Another thing I've done is buy a air purifier. This is the one I have from Amazon https://amzn.to/48Yxsyy. You have to change the air filter every couple of months but it is so worth it. I read somewhere that the most toxic air you breathe can actually be inside your home. It helps immensely with allergies as well!
Three words: stainless steel pans. I will never use Teflon again (research forever chemicals). This is the pan I have from Amazon: https://amzn.to/3FsP7AO. I use it everyday. I didn't buy a set just because I feel like I use that type of pan the most. I know Caraway is great too, but not in my current budget :)
Water filter. This is the one we use that attaches to your faucet https://amzn.to/46F8e71. We love it! You have to change the filter about every 3 months which is a long time for a water filter! I used to have a giant glass jug on the counter that I had to refill multiple times a day. This was an amazing investment and also filtered chlorine and fluoride, which is a big one for me. Research the toxicity of drinking chlorine and fluoride. From what I've learned all drinking water should be filtered. You can also look up on the EPA website what is in your water by zip code. I'm sure it will shock you!
Glass storage containers. These are the ones I have: https://amzn.to/470GHg2a. I want to buy the pack from Costco, but I just haven't done it yet. We try to use as little plastic as possible in our house, although it is inevitable. Both for environment reasons and health reasons. Environmentally because plastic takes years to break down and for health reasons because plastics are full of endocrine disruptors and can mess up your hormones big time. Also, these are the glass baby bottles I love: https://amzn.to/3Q8iGwK I use glass for baby bottles because I read that they are starting to find microplastics in placentas and breast milk. Yikes!
Lastly, laundry detergent. A lot of generic laundry detergents are filled with chemicals and fragrance that are very toxic. I would buy an unscented one or one with essential oils. I use Babyganics because a lot of times I wash my baby clothes with mine anyway. I have also read not to use dryer sheets or fabric softeners. We use wool dryer balls (you can find them pretty much anywhere). https://amzn.to/3s3Crxk
I think those are all the big things I've changed in my house. We also try to limit our processed food intake, and I try to buy organic/grass fed as much as possible. That goes without saying sometimes you just have to make a damn pizza. :)
